Portage North, formerly Kondos Outdoors, was founded in 1980 in Ely, Minnesota, after Dan and Vicki Kondos saw a need for outdoor gear that could handle the demands of life on the trail. For more than 40 years, the company has built gear for wilderness trips, outfitters, and everyday adventures. In 2015, new ownership took on the tradition and continued building on the Kondos legacy. Today, Portage North designs and manufactures its gear in Ely, using quality materials, modern equipment, and real wilderness experience to create products built for the Boundary Waters and beyond. Each piece is made with durability in mind and designed to last for years of adventures.
